Dreamz Cultural Association
organised the 5th edition of the Global Independent Film Festival of India
(GIFFI) 2025 on 14th and 15th November at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Moulali
Yuva Kendra, Kolkata. GIFFI honours feature films, short films, documentaries,
animated films and music videos from around the world with awards in various
categories and themes. In each edition, filmmakers can submit their films so
that their projects or films are judged on merit by award-winning industry
professionals and compete with other filmmakers from around the world.
More than 500 films from all over the world
participated this year. Over 120 filmmakers from all over the world
participated in this festival. More than 250 awards were given out from
more than 290 nominated films in more than 49 categories.
The festival was judged by 12 award-winning
professional judges from the film industry of India and other countries around
the world. The best 51 selected films were screened on 14th November from 10 am
to 8 pm and the award ceremony was held on 15th November from 1 pm to 6
pm.
The eminent guests included Anjan Bose (Producer
and Director and Head of Aurora Film Corporation, President's Award winning
Producer at 69th National Film Competition), Abhijit Banerjee (Film Director,
President's Award winning Director at 69th National Film Competition); Jaideep
Mukherjee (Advocate - Supreme Court of India and editor - All India Legal Aid
Forum); director Rajesh Gupta (Mumbai), filmmaker Raghunath Manet (France),
actress Swantana Bose, actress Chanda Karanji and other personalities from the
film industry and society.
Music and dance performances by renowned artists
took the festival to new heights. The awards ceremony also paid tribute to the
legendary late singer and music director Zubin Garg through videos, music and
dance performances.
