Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi is essentially a glossy showcase for the charming Khushali Kumar, but glamour alone can't save a film that's let down by an uninspired screenplay.
The premise itself is difficult to buy. A bride-to-be (Khushali) dumps her characterless groom, yet insists the wedding must go ahead. "Shaadi toh hogi... sirf dulha badlega!" Sounds quirky on paper. On screen, it simply doesn't work.
Watching it at Bandra's Gem Cinema, the sparse audience initially responded warmly to Khushali's screen presence. But as the wafer-thin plot unfolded, the enthusiasm steadily faded. By the interval, the whistles and cheers had given way to complete silence. I stayed till the end to find out whether the dulhaniya finally found her dulha... many others didn't have the patience.
The film relies heavily on an over-the-top social media influencer and a Bhojpuri-speaking African character for laughs. Sorry not interested!
