In the heart of Bengal, where the Ganges weaves tales of ancient wisdom, resides a soul as intricate as the landscapes he designs — Prasad Ranjan Das.
An architect and town planner by profession, but beyond the precise lines of urban blueprints lives Ranjan Prasad, the dreamer, the poet, the balladeer. Under this poetic pen name, he crafts more than structures — he composes verses, tells stories, and sings songs that echo with soul.
His voice, deep and mellifluous, flows like a river through Bengal’s cultural memory — effortless, haunting, and full of emotion. With every note and lyric, he paints a world rich with nostalgia, romance, and timeless truths.
Revered as the Balladeer of Bengal, Ranjan Prasad is not merely a creator of spaces but of emotions. His music bridges generations. His songs speak to both the masses and the classes. And even today, he remains an unstoppable force, immersed in the joy of creation. His life is a ballad — never-ending, always evolving.
Life is a Ballad, a documentary on the life of the balladeer will be launched at Wisdom Tree cafe on Saturday, 19th April at 6.30 pm. Shot, narrated and directed by Abhishek Ganguli, the research and script is by Arundhati Chaudhuri.
The audience will also be treated to a live performance by the legend himself.
