What happens when you see two young ladies kick ass like pros and give the men as good as they get? Great expectations. And if the two damsels in question are Alia Bhatt and Shavari, two beauties blessed with good acting chops? Magical! And if the antagonist is the debonair Bobby Deol and the male lead the evergreen Anil Kapoor? Wow! And to top it all a cameo by Hrithik Roshan! Woops! The film is sure to hit the jackpot? Right ? No, wrong. Despite the stellar starcast and the excellently choreographed action sequences, YRF's latest addition to the spy universe doesn't exactly tick all the boxes in the entertainment quotient.

To be honest all the above mentioned actors have toiled hard to keep the audience engaged. Unfortunately they are led down by a predictable script which fails to keep up the momentum.

Grim and stark with shades of black and grey dominating the landscape all through, there is actually no scene in the film which touches your emotions. You feel bad for Sita (Alia) the relentless killing machine when you see how she has been deprived of a normal childhood thanks to the evil machinations of Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat (Bobby Deol) but those are mere fleeting moments which get lost in the midst of all the action scenes.

Sita is an ace assassin trained to destroy any enemy under the tutelage of Colonel Fateh. She is actually the estranged daughter of RAW chief Colonel Vikrant Kaul (Anil Kapoor). A product of the Alpha serum created to make super soldiers, Sita goes rogue and does away with everyone stationed on the Rajasthan base where she lived. Next on her target list are Colonel Vikrant and her baba Colonel Fateh. She lands Colonel Vikrant's srona hideout only to bump into her fraternal twin Durga (Sharvari) who was living all this while living in Spain. On getting to know the truth she teams with Durga and her father to bring Colonel Fateh to book. An unexpected but unsurprising twist heats up the action.

Alia looks both tough and vulnerable as the no nonsense emotionless Sita, Sharvari is more glam but equally effective as the action babe. Anil Kapoor lends gravitas to his role. Bobby Deol as the antagonist takes the cake as he sinks his teeth into his role with relish and goes all out to make the audience hate him. Dia Mirza in a special appearance as Anil Kapoor's wife and Alia and Sharvari's mother looks luminous and leaves a small but lingering mark. Hrithik's cameo as Major Kabir who comes to the aid of the two damsels in Ladakh is mind blowing.

Perhaps this being just the intro of two new lady spies into the YRF Spy Universe, Uday Chopra appears rather weak and tentative while telling the story. Hopefully things might improve in the next installment.
