Anatomy of a Fall opens with a conversation between Sandra Huller’s character and a minor character in the film. Judging from that single scene, you have to agree that the dialogues are sharp; the screenplay never wastes time on unnecessary details that will not affect the plot whatsoever, it’s crystal clear about what it wants to say and accomplish.
Anatomy of a Fall, though a courtroom drama, at its core, is a family drama, examining the inner dynamics of a frail family, and how it eventually disintegrates.
The Palme d’Or winner by Justine Triet is a compelling
watch due to its tightly structured screenplay.
The performances are excellent, and so is the direction. The
whodunit aspect is not the best but is compelling nonetheless.
