Chase your dreams relentlessly

Cast: Vikrant Massey, Medha Shankar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sarita Joshi, Anant Vijay Joshi, Vikas Divyakirti, Anshuman Pushkar

Rating: 3.5*

Trust director Vidhu Vinod Chopra to come out with a heart-tugging and impactful true story and Vikrant Massey to essay a fantastically realistic performance. Together they bring out one of the most under-rated films of 2023. Plus the supporting actors complement each other in this heartwarming film of a man who rises against all odds.

Manoj Kunar Sharma (a brilliant Massey) lives with his family in the notorious Chambal. One day his father gets suspended for his honesty. Manoj decides to cheat in his 12th exam but the plan misfires as the newly appointed DSP Dushyant Sharma (an adorable Priyanshu Chatterjee in a cameo) stops this malpractice. When Dushyant intervenes and saves Manoj’s brother from the corrupt cops, he realizes the force of truth in the right hands. Dushyant asks Manoj to stop cheating which he does and passes his 12th exam in the 3rd division. Manoj graduates with B.A and moves to Gwalior to appear for PSC exams which he learns is discontinued and moves to Delhi to appear for IPS on the behest of a boy Pritam Pandey (a lovable Anant Vijay Joshi) whom he meets at Gwalior railway station.

There are lots of clap-worthy performances in the form of Medha Shankar (as Shraddha), Anshuman Pushkar (Gauri Bhaiya), Sarita Joshi (Manoj’s grandmother), and Vikas Divyakirti (teacher).

A film that truly inspires. Don’t miss this gem.
