Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was hospitalized on Tuesday after his O2 saturation levels fell to almost 80. He is Covid positive and was in home isolation. He is now in the ICU of Woodlands Hospital.
Bhattacharya (77) and his wife Mira had both tested Covid-19 positive
recently. Mira was admitted in a private hospital following breathing issues.
She is stable now and returned home on Monday.
Bhattacharya, who is a patient of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
(COPD) among other ailments, had refused to go to the hospital despite
fluctuations in his oxygen saturation levels two days ago.
“Buddhadeb Bhattacharya’s oxygen saturation level dropped to 80 and we
have shifted him to the hospital,” the team of doctors attending on him said.
Bhattacharya has been suffering from COPD for the last few years and was
hospitalized one and-a-half years back in Woodlands.
