Here is a true blue super sportsman;
He hits sixes out of multiple fields;
Next, he wins a silver medal at National level wrestling;
Not enough? Hang on...
He goes to bag the gold at the National track race.

Meet Peddi, a daily wage worker from a neglected village of Andhra, who can make India proud at Olympics. Only he doesn't want name and fame for himself but for his unnamed unknown village, where even a train doesn't heed to a red flag.

Directed by Buchi Babu, the film has a heart touching premise of mass exploitation and struggles of the rural hinterland. However, the plot gets messed up by invoking multiple sports, all of which our Peddi easily masters!! The good intent gets buried under all those endless practice sessions of wrestling and running...Phew!!

The performances, except Janhvi Kapoor, are competent. Particularly, Jagapathi Babu impresses as Appalasoori, a crusader out to make the train halt at his village. Hindi belt actors like Ravi Kishan, Divyenndu and Boman Irani lend their able support.

On the flipside, Janhvi Kapoor has precious little to do except display her waist and navel for the hero to oogle at, in the worst kind of female objectification. A forced kiss forms an important sub-plot!! The item number with Shruti Haasan, borders on vulgarity. A.R. Rahman disappoints yet again with an insipid music score.

Finally, Peddi belongs to the Mega Power Star Ram Charan, whose painstaking efforts on his character's physical as well as emotional transformation, are indeed commendable. Note his poignant climactic monologue...Brilliant. Ram Charan literally elevates an otherwise average film to a cut above the commonplace. Bravo!!
