The City of Joy is all set to witness a vibrant celebration of
creativity and cultural dialogue with the upcoming KIFALC–YAPANCHITRA Festival
2026, a four-day multidisciplinary arts festival jointly organised by the
YAPANCHITRA Foundation and the Kolkata International Foundation for Arts,
Literature and Culture (KIFALC). Scheduled from 26th February to 1st March
2026, the festival will unfold across leading cultural venues including KIFALC
Centre, Sisir Mancha, Gaganendra Pradarshanshala, and Nandan 3.
The festival aims to create a dynamic platform for artistic exchange,
bringing together eminent writers, poets, theatre practitioners, filmmakers,
scholars, celebrated artists, and renowned international authors. Through a
thoughtfully curated programme featuring literary discussions, poetry recitals,
theatre performances, film screenings, interactive workshops, tribal dance, and
live music, the festival seeks to foster dialogue, inspire creativity, and
promote meaningful cross-disciplinary collaboration.
A major attraction of the festival will be the Annual Art Workshop,
which will continue throughout all four days of the festival. The workshop will
feature participation by eminent artists including Samir Aich and Sanatan
Dinda, along with several other distinguished creative voices, offering
audiences an immersive space for artistic exploration and interaction.
The festival will officially begin with the inauguration of the
KIFALC–YAPANCHITRA Festival and the Annual Art Exhibition, to be held at the
KIFALC Centre in the presence of eminent personalities including Jawhar Sircar,
Santanu Bose, and Pradeep Khemka, along with Barnali Roy,Trustee of both KIFALC
and YAPANCHITRA Foundation; Samik Bandyopadhyay, Trustee; Nirmal Kanti
Bhattacharya, Trustee; and Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, Trustee of both as
well as Prabal Kumar Basu, Chairperson of both the organizations; Dipali
Bhattacharya, Managing Trustee; Mallika Prasad, Actor and other cultural
leaders.
The festival will host engaging panel discussions, poetry readings,
theatre productions, and cultural conversations featuring distinguished voices
such as Jawhar Sircar, Prabal Kumar Basu, H. S. Shivaprakash, Sanjukta
Dasgupta, Mallika Prasad, and many more.
The event will also welcome celebrated national and international
literary figures including Marta Eloy, Ahmad Al Shahawy, Sara Hamid Hawass,
Desmond Kharmawphlang, Kanji Patel, Jayant Kaikini, and Gagan Gill, making it a
truly global cultural congregation.
A key highlight of the festival will be the prestigious
KIFALC–YAPANCHITRA Awards, honouring outstanding contributions in the fields of
arts and culture. Enhancing the cultural experience will be special theatre
presentations by Dolly Basu, Dastangoi by Suparna Deb, short film screenings
curated by Sanjay Mukhopadhyay, and live music performances by Debojyoti Mishra
& team and the iconic Lakkhichara Band, promising a rich and immersive
experience for audiences.
Founded in 2002, the YAPANCHITRA Foundation has been a strong advocate
for nurturing young literary voices and promoting poetry, theatre, and socially
relevant artistic expressions. Over the years, the foundation has published
more than 70 books by emerging poets and instituted prestigious awards
recognising excellence in poetry and literature.
KIFALC, formed by Kolkata’s vibrant creative community, continues to
promote arts, literature, and culture through exhibitions, performances, and
international collaborations, striving to build a culturally enriched and
inclusive society.
The KIFALC–YAPANCHITRA Festival 2026 promises to be a landmark cultural
event, strengthening Kolkata’s artistic landscape and celebrating the spirit of
creative dialogue.
