It's not easy to delve into emotions and relationships in a span of just 17 minutes but Team Aavishkar -The Discovery manages to do that and that too without breaking into a sweat.
Mansi (Anuja) and Shashi (Soham) are a new age couple. Desperately in love with each other at one point of time the couple now seems to be going through a sense of ennui. No longer do their hearts beat for each other as before nor does their love making have that passion and urgency which brought them together in the first place. Moreover they have even stopped communicating. Irritation, anger, frustration and even disgust are the hallmarks of their relationship today which now is limited to the four walls of the bedroom. With the bed as their battlefield the couple squabble and tear into each other viciously. A ringing doorbell puts an end to their diatribe against each other after which they leave, not together but in opposite directions.
Inspired by Basu Bhattacharya's Rajesh Khanna Sharmila Tagore's 1974 starrer 'Avishkaar' writer Pratik Majumdar and director Sanjay Mishra twist and turn the original into a new take on relationships with a surprising twist in the last shot.
Cinematography and editing by Ravit Mishra is both sharp and effective, aptly conveying the claustrophobic relationship the couple now shares.
Anuja Jain as Mansi and Soham Gupta as Shashi are brilliant as the couple on the brink of breaking up with Anuja's interpretation of emotional vacuum hitting home with a bang.
