Despair, frustration, anger at not being able to succeed in your life and failing to live up to your parents expectations is a common malaise among the young generation. In that depressed state of mind many take drastic steps to end it all. They fail to realise that failure is the pillar of success. That is the state of Parth Desai's (Aineesh) mind here as he contemplates how unhappy he is after his start up fails and even types out a suicide note. But hope comes in the form of a knock by the friendly neighbour GK (Abhijit) from the flat next door. The conversation between the two becomes an eye opener for Parth who understands that there is more to life than he had envisaged.
With a crisp story and screenplay by Pratik Majumdar and deft direction by Sanjay Mishra, 'The Inner Light' is a spiritually enlightening film on how to deal with life's adversities and how the teachings of The Gita plays an important part in one's life. With just two characters in one room with the wonderful interplay of light and shade 'The Inner Light' shines like a beacon of positivity. The cinematography by Malay Mondal is a stand-out.
Both actors - debutant Aineesh Dutt and veteran actor-filmmaker Abhijit Guha - deliver impactful performances to bring home to the audience, the director and the writer's vision in just 11 minutes, living up to its tagline, "Awaken the light within".
