The 2nd edition of the Film Frenzy Festival concluded on a high note with a glittering awards ceremony which saw a full house at the Saturday Club on September 20 evening.

After a welcome speech by the film festival director Sanjay Mishra, Alakananda Pramanick thanked the four sponsors, the four jury members and Malay Mandal for their support in making the festival held at the iconic Radha Studios from September 10 to 15 such a great success. 

Premier sponsors Pratik Majumdar, CEO JNM Homoeo Sadan & Bindiya Majumdar. co-presenter sponsor Rajashree Roy Chowdhury, Founder Samsthiti;  sponsor Prasenjit Karmakar, owner RRM Consultancy and Sponsor Sutapa Ganguly, owner of Tiswa’s Kitchen were felicitated with potted plants.

Thereafter all four jury members - Debasish Sen Sharma, Pradip Saha, Althea Phillips, Ruma Chakraborty and  Malay Mandal, owner, Rent Cinematic Studio  were also felicitated.   

Special Appreciation Awards were given to 'Balcony', 'Birahe', 'Calling Bell', 'Basusen Sakashe Basundhara', 'Joy Joy Ma Dugga', 'Porosh-The Touch', 'The Revealing', 'The Lost Freedom',  'The Still'. 'Code Prithibi' , 'Black Coffee' and 'Ek Duje Ke Liye'.

Abhishek Ganguli then took over as emcee to announce the major competitive awards.

The award winners were: 'The Shadows'  A Film by Grade 5C Students of St. Patrick’s Academy (Kerala) for Best Shorts. There was a tie for Best Shorts (Critics) ' A Tune of Freedom in the Mango Forest by Sonali Sarkar (Kolkata) and  'Maa=Ghar' by Naman Mehra (Kanpur). 

The Best film on animals/ pets was 'Sheru Ka Address' by Naman Mehra (Kanpur)

There was a tie for the Best shorts on animals/pets (critics) was 'Wheels of Hope' by Piu Nath (Pune). and 'Reiach and Shah Rukh Khan' by Drishti Banerjee (Delhi). The Best Documentary on animals/pets was bagged by 'The World Between Waves' by Vrushank Dixit (Valsad, Gujarat).

In the music videos category, the best original music award went to 'Opekkhay/In Waiting' while the best original music critics award went to 'Umeed Diwani Hai.

The best storytelling through song award went to 'Nakshi Kantha'. The best singer award went to Sayani Palit for the music video 'Saaware' while the best cover music video award went to 'Ami Chini Go Chini Tomare'.

The Best Documentary award was bagged by 'Broto Alpona: Finger Painted Message to the Gods' by Sarbari Chowdhury (Jamshedpur) and 'Itihasher Ayenaye Daulatabad Fort' by Anirban Saha (Kolkata).

The Best Documentary Critics award went to 'The Lone Sentinels of the Nilgiri Forest' by Sarbari Varkala (Kerala) and 'Pirates of Sunderban' by Prithwish Boral & Rajib Mukherjee (Kolkata).

In the Horror Films category the Best Cinematography Award went to Malay Mondal for 'Haunted House' (Kolkata). The Best Actor Award went to Debdyutt Sengupta for 'Bloody Marry' (Kolkata).  The Best Director Award went to Sumitro Banerjee for 'Haunted House'.

For best originality, engagement and emotional impact the award went to 'Vanaba' by Prajwal HC (Karnataka).

The Best Short Film on social awareness award was bagged by 'Moki...Towards Literacy' by Deepak Shankar Ishi (Mumbai). The Best Short Film on social awareness critics award went to 'Dishaa' by Rahul B Seth (Mumbai).

The best story award went to 'The Red Nose' by Dibyadoot Roy Chowdhury (Kolkata) while the best story critics award went to 'Farishta' by Dipto Roy (Kolkata).

The Best Cinematography award went to Lokesh Muchchur for 'Titeeri' (Mangalore Karnataka), while the Best Cinematographer Critics award went to Tuhin Saha for 'The Watched Woman' (Kolkata).

The Best Child Actor award was bagged by Vishnu Latawaa for Dishaa (Mumbai) while Md. Ibrahim bagged the Best Child Actor Critics award for 'Mangsho' (Kolkata) and Sanghavi Chakraborty for 'The Red Nose' (Kolkata).

The Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) went to Sharmila Basu for 'Black Coffee' (Kolkata) and Payel Roy for 'The Watched Woman' (Kolkata).
The  Best Actor in a Leading Role Female critics award was bagged by Brishti Roy for Kivaad (Kolkata) and Supti Sarkar for 'Black Coffee' (Kolkata).

The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role Male went to Megh Pandit for 'Maa..Suno Na' (Gujarat) while the critics award went to Kaushik Chatterjee for 'Black Coffee' (Kolkata).

The award for the Best Actor Comedy went to Dr. Shyamal Kumar Adhikari for 'Bhimroti' (Kolkata) while the critics award was bagged by Romil Shukla for 'Yeh Sawaal Hi Kyun Banaya?' (Kanpur).

The Best Mobile Film Award went to 'Aaktara' by Rimp Das (Jalpaiguri).

The  Best Director Award went to Monaksh N Kanikarr for 'Nanak Chinta Mat Karo' (Gujarat).

The Best Concept and Direction award went to Dona Roy for 'Sarvabhuteshu' (France).

The Best Feature Film Award went to 'Grinding Humanity' (Kolkata, director
Ruchin Veena Chainpuri). The critics award went to 'Daniel er Diary' (Kolkata' director Indranil Sarkar).

Pratik Majumdar was bestowed with a special honour for his exceptional screenplay writing and storytelling churning out a series of hits. a hatrick with  'After Hours', 'Inner Light' & 'Aavishkar – The Discovery!'

Under the Special Awards category named after legendary filmmaker Sushil Majumdar, the Special Sushil Majumdar Award for Most Promising Filmmaker was bagged by Chandrima Ray for 'Antarkatha' (Kolkata) and Varun Khettry for 'Kosha Mangsho' (Kolkata). Majumdar's great grandson Trinabh Mishra gave away the awards.

The evening ended with fellowship over tea and snacks.
