Sudeshna Beacon of Hope (SBOH) will present SBOH Concert 2026 — Melodies of Hope on Saturday, 12 September, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mahanayak Uttam Mancha in Kolkata. Net proceeds will support cancer treatment for children from economically disadvantaged families at Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute (SGCC&RI), Thakurpukur.
The 11th annual concert marks 10 years since SBOH began its journey in 2016. Through concerts in Kolkata and Washington, D.C., area, SBOH has brought together artists, audiences and supporters around a shared purpose. Over the past decade, it has contributed more than Rs 60 lakh to SGCC&RI while also supporting cancer research, including a paediatric cancer study conducted by SGCC&RI in collaboration with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
SBOH was founded in memory of Sudeshna, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2013. The deeply personal tribute has grown into a sustained effort to help children access treatment and assure patients and their families that they are not alone. “Sudeshna Beacon of Hope was born from a deeply personal loss, but over the years it has grown into a movement of hope,” said Suvasish Ghosh, Sudeshna’s husband and founder of SBOH at a press meet at the Kolkata Press Club on September 7 . “Through music, we want every child and family facing cancer to feel the strength of a community standing beside them. Every contribution and every note performed becomes part of that promise.”
Also present were Jojo Mukherjee, Debamalya Chattopadhyay, Suvasish Ghosh and Anjan Gupta
The concert will celebrate the music of legendary composers S.D. Burman and R.D. Burman. The tribute will feature performances by Jojo Mukherjee, Manomoy Bhattacharya, Hricha Debraj, Swarnali Bose and Debamalya Chattopadhyay. Jazz vocalist Sucheta Sanyal will perform iconic Western classics alongside young performers Rohini Bhose Desai, Shloka Subramaniam and U.S.-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Shohan Ghosh, Sudeshna and Suvasish Ghosh's son. An ensemble of award-winning musicians will accompany the singers.
The evening will also feature Anjali Roy, a cancer survivor who lost a leg to the disease at age 14 but continued to pursue her passion for dance. Television anchor Mounita Mukherjee Chattopadhyay, host of 'Good Morning Akash', will be the master of ceremonies.
