New Delhi– The Russian Film Festival, a major
cultural and industry-focused initiative organized by ROSKINO with the support
of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, has successfully
concluded its three-day run in New Delhi from December 5–7, 2025. This year’s
edition celebrated the best of contemporary Russian cinema while emphasizing
enhanced co-production and distribution partnerships with Indian and Eurasian
industry stakeholders.
The festival opened with a solemn ceremony
featuring a special video address by Olga Lubimova, Minister of Culture of the
Russian Federation, reaffirming the event’s strong state backing. Attendees
were also greeted by Alexander Zharov, CEO of Gazprom Media Holding, Elza
Antonova, CEO of ROSKINO, and renowned Russian actor Kirill Kuznetsov.
The cinematic showcase began with the war drama
August (directed by N. Vysotsky & I. Lebedev). Audiences enjoyed a curated
selection of contemporary Russian films, including:
Blood Type (dir. M. Brius); Perl (2025, dir. T.
Barkalaya); First on Olympus (2025, dir. A. Mikhalvkov) and Doctor Dinozavrov
(dir. M. Volkov)
The festival’s business program served as a key
platform for dialogue and industry networking. Highlights included:
Interactive Q&A sessions with Russian
directors, actors, and producers
Round-table discussions on co-production and
distribution opportunities between Russia and India
A major highlight was the panel discussion, “Cinema
as a Cultural Bridge: From Common Values to Joint Projects,” organized
alongside the Russian-Indian Forum and integrated into the screenings of the
Open Eurasian Film Award. The discussion spotlighted cinema’s growing role in
strengthening cultural ties.
Speaking on ROSKINO’s vision, CEO Elza Antonova
emphasized the organization’s long-term commitment to building Indo-Russian
creative partnerships:
“We are in India to meet not just viewers but also
our creative partners and co-authors. I’m sure that we are in for many joint
projects that will tell the world new stories born at the crossing of our
cultures.”
The strong participation and positive response
throughout the festival demonstrated the shared enthusiasm of filmmakers across
Russia, India, and Eurasian countries—united by the desire to create powerful,
borderless stories.
