FILM REVIEW: Baaghi 4
Cast: Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa, Harnaaz Sandhu, Shreyas Talpade &
Sanjay Dutt with Upendra Limaye, Saurabh Sachdeva
Director: A.Harsha
Director A.Harsha remakes the 2013 Tamil hit Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu
starring Bharath as Baaghi 4. Though he has tweaked the story (Sajid Nadiadwala
ha ha) and characterisations to suit the Hindi belt, the core plot remains the
same. The film is high on action and that too has been edited by the censors
along with certain dialogues. The best part is that actually there is no
villain in the film. Both the lead characters Sanjay Dutt (in an extended
special appearance) and Tiger Shroff are 'aashiqs'. Harsha manages to keep the
viewers engaged by making Ronnie (Tiger Shroff) believe that he has gone crazy.
Also just at the interval point, when Chacko (Sanjay Dutt) appears, the
audience laps up the intro scene with ceetis and claps. Who said that the
Deadly Dutt doesn't command a fanbase. He does it and with great aplomb! The
scene sets the tone for an action-packed second half. The first half is
slightly boring, but makes up for it in the second half.
The film starts with Naval officer Ronnie / Ranveer Pratap Singh (Tiger
Shroff) meeting with a terrible car accident which makes him go into a coma for
7 months. Due to the accident his brother Jeetu (Shreyas Talpade) takes care of
him and also realises that Ronnie hallucinates as he keeps on talking about a
girl named Alisha (Harnaaz Sandhu) who he was in love with and had died in the
car crash when in reality there was no girl with him. However, Ronnie tries
hard to make everyone believe that he isn't hallucinating, but all his
efforts prove futile until one day he stumbles upon a shocking truth. In comes
Chacko (Sanjay Dutt), but who is this Chacko?
Sanjay Dutt is excellent despite a very limited screen time. Despite
that he makes his special appearances look like lead role. Tremendous screen
presence. His eyes do all the talking and is effortless as far as action scenes
go. Tiger Shroff displays his intensity in this film but somehow is weak in the
emotional scenes. His action is as we all know-terrific. Sonam Bajwa as Olivia/
Pratishtha is wonderful. Debutant Harnaaz Sandhu is very good as Chacko's love
interest Avantika but is slightly weak in the role of Alisha, Ronnie's love
interest. Upendra Limaye steals the thunder as the police officer. Shreyas
Talpade is able and Saurabh Sachdeva as Paulo, Chacko's brother, leaves a mark.
Baaghi 4 boasts of too many songs which hinder the flow of the film. Two
songs stand out- 'Akeli Laila' picturised on Sonam Bajwa and 'Yeh Mera Husn'
picturised on Harnaaz and Dutt. The latter one is superbly shot and looks
glamorous. The action is gory and reminds us of Animal, Pushpa and KGF.
The film is made for single screens where the audience should lap it up
gleefully but the other deterrent factor is the 'Adults only' tag. However the
film is massy and entertaining with a slightly different climax.
