Bengaluru: Renowned entrepreneur and chairman of
Afnan Constructions, KGF Babu, has unveiled one of Karnataka’s most ambitious
social housing projects to date—an initiative valued at ₹400 crore aimed at
providing shelter to 10,000 homeless families in the Chickpet constituency of
Bengaluru.
The housing initiative, fully funded by Babu’s
personal, tax-paid income, reflects a powerful tribute to his late mother’s
lifelong dream: helping the poor build lives of dignity in their own homes.
“Wealth finds its true purpose when it serves those in need,” Babu affirmed,
emphasizing that the project is driven purely by humanitarian values, free from
any political aspirations.
In a move lauded for its integrity, Babu has
formally notified the Income Tax Department regarding the funding source and
expenditure breakdown, reaffirming his commitment to lawful conduct and public
accountability. Transparency remains the bedrock of the entire endeavour.
To translate this vision into reality, Babu has
submitted official requests to relevant government departments, seeking
assistance with land allocation and infrastructure services such as water and
electricity. His outreach is not merely financial but operational—ensuring that
the project reaches deserving beneficiaries in a timely and impactful manner.
Should approvals proceed, this initiative will mark
the largest privately-led housing donation in Bengaluru’s history. The effort
is expected to transform thousands of lives and inspire similar acts of
socially conscious leadership across the country.
