March 7 witnessed a spectacular evening of inspiration at the Large Phoenix Hall, Saturday Club, where seven magnificent women achievers were honoured for leaving an indelible mark in their respective fields. Organized jointly by Cinema for a Cause, Payal Mishra Films & JSR Eventers, the event sponsors were JNM Homeo Sadan, Cakemate, Blossom & Bloom, and Chhayataru. The gift sponsor was Suneeti Naturals, while the media partners were Kolkata Konnect and Live Plus.

The event started with the welcome address by Sanjay Mishra of Payal Mishra Films. Abhishek Ganguli, founder-chief, Cinema For A Cause then took over the proceedings as the master of ceremonies.

A stotra rendition, ‘Aigiri Nandini’ by Payal Mishra of Payal Mishra Films, Sonia Choudhury, homemaker and entrepreneur and Akshar student Sukanya Bhattacharjee kicked off the felicitation ceremony on an auspicious note.

An AV presentation paid tribute to seven daughters of India, some of whom are deceased.

The Magnificient 7 who were felicitated were: Titas Chakraborty started her career by assisting in films, getting to understand the nuances of filmmaking before taking on film direction. From acting on stage to directing her own acclaimed short film ‘Colour The Cloud’, Titas has proved that a good film always tells a powerful story.

Mausumi Dasgupta, entrepreneur, Chhayatoru Café, a place that is not just about food but also about warmth, comfort, and inclusivity.

Ritama Ghosh is a teacher and independent filmmaker whose films deal with subjects like social justice, human rights and personal freedom. Through both her films and her teaching, she continues to shape young minds and inspire change.

Co-founded by Arpita Maitra, a vocal artist, and Debika Bagchi, an artist and teacher, Blossom and Bloom is a brand dedicated to bringing unique handcrafted creations like jewellery, home décor, and canvas bags to life.

Swagota Bhattacharya is an entrepreneur and the owner of Cakemate, a home bakery since 2016 that has been selling premium quality cakes, cookies, chocolates, and other savoury items.

Alakanada Pramanik: An Amazon bestselling author, expert storyteller, voiceover artist, actor, and mentor, Alaknanda has over 40 years of experience in diverse fields. Having acted in both Bengali and Hindi films and serials, she has written and produced award-winning films and curated the web series Showstopperzz.

Nandini Sengupta Chakraborty, a documentary filmmaker, is the daughter of legendary cinematographer Ramananda Sengupta. A trained classical singer under Vidushi Krishna Ganguly Dasgupta and Pandit Arun Bhaduri she has beautifully blended her love for music and films. She has paid tribute to her guru by directing a documentary and aspires to create more such impactful cinematic works.

Entrepreneur Krishna Majumdar was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award. Apart from being a homemaker to becoming a founding partner in 2001 of JNM Homeo Sadan. Majumdar has played a key role in making JNM a household name in the field of homeopathic medicine. She continues to play a pivotal role in handling day-to-day operations at JNM.

Each of the achievers was, in turn, felicitated by women luminaries who themselves are a force to reckon with in their field of work.  The luminary guests who felicitated the Magnificicent 7 were Ipsita Ganguli hotelier, business consultant poet and cultural personality; Fullora Mukhopadhyay cultural curator poet actor anchor, author; Althea Phillips senior journalist and writer; Sunitha R Dey educator; Madhumita Chakrabarti actor model actor voice over artist;  Dr Suchismita Sinha consultant and practising psychologist and Soumee Mitra yoga teacher Odissi dancer wellness advocate.

Under the tribute section, Nilima Dutta of Tollygunge Homes was remembered. Somnath Dasgupta, member, managing committee, Tollygune Homes, spoke about his inspiring moments with Nilima Dutta and how they are taking her legacy forward.

The day ended with fellowship and refreshments.
