Rangakarmee, one of India’s most iconic theatre groups, celebrated its golden jubilee with a vibrant cultural programme that highlighted the richness and diversity of Indian art forms. The event, held to commemorate 50 remarkable years of Rangakarmee’s artistic journey, featured a captivating lineup of performances, including dance, music, theatre, monologues, and poetry, reflecting the legacy of this pioneering theatre group.
The evening opened with an enchanting Kathak Fusion performance by Ranjini Ghosh and Madhumita Chakraborty, setting an uplifting tone for the celebrations. This was followed by a series of engaging acts, including heartfelt monologues, soulful songs, and a moving poetry recital by Subhash Biswas, who performed Sannata, penned by the esteemed poet Bhavani Prasad Mishra.
Adding a classical touch to the evening, Anindita Pati delivered a mesmerizing classical dance performance, enthralling the audience with her grace and artistry. The programme concluded on a high note with an electrifying Musical Mashup titled “Karmees in Denim”, performed by Shubham, Om Tiwari, Manoseej Biswas, Shubhojit Guha, and Gaurav Sinha. This dynamic performance masterfully blended traditional melodies with contemporary beats, leaving the audience captivated.
The highlight of the evening was the grand finale, where all the artists came together for an emotional rendition of “Moko Kahan Dhunde Re Bande, Main To Tere Paas Mein”—a cherished song from Rangakarmee’s acclaimed production Maiyyat, directed by the legendary Usha Ganguli. This heartfelt performance served as a fitting tribute to Rangakarmee’s illustrious founder and her indelible contribution to Indian theatre.
The 50th-anniversary celebration was a testament to Rangakarmee’s enduring legacy and its unwavering commitment to promoting Indian theatre and arts, inspiring generations to come.
