A very ordinary 'sleuth' film

Cast: Soham Chakraborty, Madhumita Sircar, Porimoni, Shataf Fiqar, Sumanta Mukherjee

Rating:2.5*

So we have Soham Chakraborty as the new sleuth in Tollywood and director Debraj Sinha adapts a new name for the sleuth- Felu Bakshi. Interesting! But somehow the director delivers a predictable fare and those who are into detective/crime thrillers will smell the rat in the first 20 minutes. Yes, Soham delivers a good performance in the titular role but that will not be enough to save the fate of the film. Even the story is devoid of any twists and turns needed to make a whodunit watchable.

Gourab Mukherjee (Kausheek Bhattacharya) returns from Boston permanently with his wife (Pori Moni) to settle down in Kolkata. He is in talks with some pharma companies to sell his discovery drug on cancer. His father Animesh (Sumanta Mukherjee) is elated but all the happiness turns into despair as Gourab dies of a heart attack on the day of his first wedding anniversary. A series of deaths also start happening in the Mukherjee household and that is when Felu Bakshi is hired by Animesh to solve the crimes. Felu is assisted by his supposedly RJ girlfriend Debjani (Madhumanti Sircar).

Madhumanti Sircar is unconvincing as a RJ and her so-called romantic liaison with Felu is a total downer. However, she is much better in the action sequences. Her pairing with Soham is also a letdown. Shataf Fiqar as Meghnad Chatterjee, a key player in the whodunit holds his own. Pori Moni, despite having limited screen time does well. Veteran actor Sumanta Mukherjee does what he is required to do.

The music (Amlaan Chakraborty and Aditi Bose) is quite pleasing but could have been better.

Felu Bakshi is a mediocre film with many loopholes, but it is watchable because of Soham's performance, which includes a lot of action.
