Medicon International 2023, an advanced clinical medicine conference was held in Kolkata on November 18 and 19 at the ITC Royal Bengal. The two-day conference was jointly organised by Peerless Hospital and BK Roy Foundation, Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and the Association of Physicians of India, West Bengal Chapter. The eighth of the conference addressed the recent changes in the understanding and practice of various aspects of acute medicine through sessions, medical quiz, orations, state-of-the-art lectures, and keynote addresses.

of the art lectures, Empathy from Brain to Bedside and The Hope, Hype and Perils
of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care
Two special sessions on respiratory rehabilitation, doctor-nurse communication
interface and sessions on neurology, diabetology and endocrinology, rheumatology,
critical care, cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, infectious disease and
granulomatous hepatitis as well as medical quiz were held over the two days. All
the topics were carefully selected so that both specialists and generalists
benefit from the contents and subsequent discussions.
The highlight of the conference was the Prof Shyamal Sen Memorial
Oration delivered by one of the most distinguished oncologists in India, Prof
Mammen Chandy, on Research as part of the DNA of Medicine.
Roll signing ceremony of the new Fellows selected this year to the RCPE
from this part of the country was also held on the second and final day.
