The words “dhak dhak” evoke
memories of Madhuri Dixit grooving sensuously to the superhit track Anil Kapoor
in tow. That was old-school 1990s! Get set for a whole new meaning of these two
words as four dare-devil women take on the world and their men to ace a bike
trip to Khardung La. Yes, their bikes beat with hearts of their own as their
riders take the ride of their lives, each to fulfill a personal mission.
There is Sky (Fatima Sana
Shaikh) a travel blogger who is out to wipe out memories of her photos getting
leaked online and is hellbent on creating an identity for herself; Manpreet
Kaur Sethi aka Mahi, biker nani (Ratna Pathak Shah) who wants to complete this
biker’s pilgrimage to show that she too has it in her to do something hatke;
Uzma (Dia Mirza) the jugaadu mechanic who is stuck in a humdrum marriage which
only requires her to cook, look after house and kid and keep her husband happy
in bed and the accident-prone bumbling Manjari (Sanjana Sanghi) who wants to
break free from her mother’s stifling love and embark on a solo trip before she
ties the knot in an arranged alliance.
Along the way, the four gusty
women face hurdles like accidents, viral videos, floods, ill-health, and some
bitter-sweet events till their journey of self-discovery leads them to push the
envelope to greater heights as they conquer the highest motorable pass in the
world.
With Tapsee Pannu as one of
the producers, Dhak Dhak naturally becomes an ode to woman power. With deft
direction by Tarun Dudeja, the film’s score is invigorating and sets the
perfect tone for this memorable ride through some breathtaking locales in
Manali, Leh and Ladakh
The star of the film is
undoubtedly Ratna Pathak Shah. She literally gives the young cast a run for
their money as she takes on the challenge of proving that she is truly a biker
nani. Her moments with an admirer Bernett (Ozgur Kurt) who she meets on the trip
are sweet and humorous. The rest of the cast gives commendable support.
A movie trip which you must
go for. So hop on and enjoy the ride with this gang of biker girls.
