Leading experts from the oil & gas downstream industry and government officials gathered at The Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi for a technical summit themed "Make India a Global Petrochemical Leader by using Sustainable cutting edge Technologies". India Petrochemicals – Tech Summit 2023 aimed to explore how India could become a global leader in the petrochemical industry through sustainable innovation.

The event organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) saw a keynote address from the Former CEO NITI Ayog, Parameswaran Iyer, who stressed the importance of sustainable technologies in the petrochemical industry. Iyer also talked about reviewing existing policies, if required, to promote investments in this sector.

The event featured panel discussions from top industry players and experts in the field of petrochemicals, including Arun Baroka, Secretary, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals; Pankaj Jain, Secretary, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas; Prabh Das, Chief Executive Officer, HPCL Mittal Energy Limited; SSV Ramakumar, Director (R&D), Indian Oil; Rajiv Aggarwal, Director (Technical), EIL; Purnendu Chatterjee, Chairman, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd.; Leon de Bruyn, Chief Executive Officer, Lummus Technology, and many other industry stalwarts.

Discussions focused on the growing demand for petrochemicals and how the Indian petrochemical industry can take advantage of new and innovative technologies to meet this demand, while promoting sustainability, increasing production efficiency, and reducing costs. Industry leaders shared their thoughts on how to leverage technologies such as Crude to Chemicals to reduce feedstock requirements and make India a leading player in the global petrochemical industry.

 The event was a great success and brought together some of the top minds in the industry and government to discuss how India can lead the way in sustainable petrochemical production. The discussions highlighted the importance of coherence and the need for the government and industry to work together to achieve this vision.
