Scream is an excellent franchise. It is
repetitive but it’s really enjoyable, and every time it shocks you with who
Ghostface could be. This is, for sure, the stupidest film in the franchise, which
takes itself a little too seriously which makes it even more enjoyable. The
kills in this are the goriest in the entire franchise and the best. It is so
predictable yet you never see it coming. The references to films are excellent
– especially those posters before the title reveal at the start.
Following the latest Ghostface killings,
the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York
City.
This isn’t Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler
Gillett’s best film, their best is obviously Ready or Not, but it does come so
close to being their best. The performances are over the top yet so enjoyable
that it’s fun to be with these characters for a full two hours, an otherwise extremely long run time for a slasher film.
Check out Scream VI at a theatre nearest to
you for a whale of a time.
