A newsletter, Sankhyata Sangbad, has been published jointly by the departments of Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics of the School of Applied Science & Technology, MAKAUT, WB. The first issue was released ceremonially by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Saikat Maitra at the International Kolkata Book Fair 2022 on Saturday, 5 It is available in electronic as well as print format.
The first issue of the newsletter highlights best practices adopted by the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics, despite the terrible pandemic situation, through spontaneous contributions from students, faculty, and best practices adopted by the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics.
As
Prof. Sukhendu Samajdar has pointed out: "Education inspires self-expression.
And I see this newsletter as a form of creative and collaborative
self-expression. That the departments of Applied Statistics and Applied
Mathematics have put together their maiden publication speaks volumes on
passionate commitment and hard work by the faculty comprising the editorial
team. Their effort deserves my generous congratulations, especially in light of
the twin facts that the departments are barely one and a half years old and the
entire composition has been completed through online collaboration amid the
Covid-19 crisis."
