Vaishali Kala Kendra Noida, India and Trinayan collective, a New Jersey and New York based art and culture organisation, organised an online event “Ek Prayaas” for the celebration of Navratri 2021 on October 12 from 7 pm IST and 9.30 am EST.

Navratri or the ‘nine nights’ is that time of the year when you get the chance to experience deep rest. The Devi represents cosmic energy that permeates the entire world. Navratri is the time when this energy can be tapped. It's time to feel your soul! Navratri celebration is a chance to soak in all this energy.

In this online event, all the generations of dancers together came to celebrate the day with various performances like Odissi, Agomani, and Dandiya.

The event started with Devi Bhajans. Welcome speeches by Isha Das and Odissi guru Jyoti Srivastava and founder of Vaishali Kala Kendra followed. The guest of the evening was Amarendra Das.

The first performance of this online event was by the young learners, the second performance by Siddharth Kishore saw him presenting Devi Bhajans in different languages like Sanskrit, Oriya and Hindi in his melodious voice. Up next was Bani Ray an Odissi exponent from the USA who presented an Agomoni on her own choreography. The fourth presentation was by the students of Trinayan Collective USA. Odissi guru Jyoti Srivastava came up with her own choreography presentation in the song “Bajlo Tomar Alor Benu'”.

The disciples of Vaishali Kala Kendra presented Durga Stuti and Durga Bhajan with the final presentation of the online events being the Dandiya.

The event was concluded by Amarendra Das who said, “During Durga Puja we worship Shakti that means power, and in the last 25 years I always attended Jyoti Srivastava’s programme. I saw how well she has trained her students, treat her students as if she were their mother and nurturing their talents. We received positive energy during this Puja.”

Jyoti Shrivastava’s message to all the young generation was to accept our art and culture. In this event we want to say that young generation should connect with spirituality, art, culture and discipline, so they can achieve their goals.
