Kolkata:  Slamming  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for unnecessarily creating chaos during the speech of Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at West Bengal Legislative Assembly’s budget session on Friday, the ruling Trinamool Congress on Saturday slammed the saffron camp for disrupting the opening day of the session.

TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy on Saturday claimed that such an act of sudden protest by the BJP during the speech of the Governor is a ‘negative mark on democracy’.

“If the saffron camp had any objection in the speech of Dhankhar then they could have waited for a reply speech session. Hearing someone doesn’t really prove that you approve of everything that the person is saying,” said Sukhendu, also stating that the BJP is trying to divide Bengal.

It can be recalled that Dhankhar who had reached the House by 1:55 pm after paying floral tribute to B.R. Ambedkar entered the hall of the House flanked by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay.

After the Governor started his opening speech, it had to be stopped within four minutes, as the BJP MLAs came down to the well and protested, claiming Dhankhar was reading a speech prepared by the Mamata Banerjee government, which had no mention of the post-poll violence. The Governor left the assembly soon after the protest by the BJP MLAs aggravated the situation, disrupting the session.
