Kolkata: JIS Group celebrated World Book Day by unveiling a Book Drive, ‘Let Us Bring a Smile on Someone’s Face’ for underprivileged children. JIS Group took this initiative in partnership with "Goonj” to make knowledge accessible to all. This book donation camp was started on April 8 and continued till April 17.
During this 10-day
campaign people donated storybooks, unused colouring books, blank notebooks,
pens, colour pencils, pencil books, dictionaries, school and reference books.
More than hundred books and stationery items were collected from 18 donation
centres across the city. These items will be distributed among deprived
toddlers.
Speaking on the
occasion, Sardar Taranjit Singh, MD, JIS Group said, “An educated child has a
better ability to think, create and express himself/herself freely. Many
children belong to the deprived section of society and cannot afford to buy
books, bags or the necessary study materials to support a stable education.
Through this initiative, we aim at bridging the gap and extending our support
towards unprivileged children.”
