New Delhi: In an address towards nation on Tuesday late evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the states to avoid another lockdown.
Modi said, “I appeal to the states
that lockdown should be the last option in the worst-case scenario. Instead of
lockdown, we can opt for micro-containment zones.”
“We will not need containment, lockdown or shutdown, if we get people’s
participation and they adhere to the COVID guidelines strictly,” the Prime
Minister said during an address to the nation.
“Dawai bhi aur Kadai bhi. With participation of the people, we
will again be able to combat the current wave of COVID. The COVID guidelines must
be followed even after the vaccination,” Modi said.
PM also urged the migrant workers to stay put and mentioned the vaccination of the migrant workers.
The PM expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses,
paramedical staff ambulance drivers, cleaning staff, and police personnel who
risked their own lives to save the lives of the people of India.
“In many parts of the country, the demand for oxygen has
increased alarmingly. We have acted promptly in this direction,” the PM said,
adding, “We should not lose our patience at this time.”
Modi requested the vaccine manufacturers in the country to scale
up the production capacity in order to help expedite vaccination programme in India.
Modi said, “The Central government has now allowed the
vaccination programme for every adult starting May 1.”
During the day, the Prime Minister had detailed interaction with
vaccine manufacturers across the country through video conferencing.
He praised the vaccine manufacturers for their achievements and
professionalism. He said that the biggest strengths of our vaccine industry are
its ‘Samarthya, Sansadhan and Seva Bhaav’, and these are what makes them a
vaccine leader in the world.
The Prime Minister said the health infrastructure of our private
sector has played a big role in the country’s fight against Covid-19 and in the
coming days, the private sector must participate actively and play an active role
in the vaccination drive.
