MathabhangaThe West Bengal chief minister has assured that justice will be given to the kin of the victims and said those responsible for the crime will be punished.

Mamata  Banerjee said, "The West Bengal government will support all victims of political violence including the Sitalkuchi victims' family...Whoever did this [violence], we will bring them to justice."
Reaching Mathabhanga on Wednesday, Mamata lamented that she could not meet the next of kin of the deceased earlier owing to a 72-hour ban on entry of political leaders in Cooch Behar. Four people had been gunned down by CISF personnel, who had fired in "self-defence", on April 10.

"The people will give the verdict for this crime," she said while meeting the family members of those killed in the CISF firing in Sitalkuchi.

The family members in turn said they have full faith in D"Didi came to meet us here and said that she would help us as soon as the election ends. She consoled and gave us hope. We trust her," they said.

Mamata said she had gone only to visit the families of the victims and had no public meeting scheduled in Mathabhanga.

"One victim's wife is pregnant. One victim's wife has a young kid. Whoever did this, we will bring them to justice... The Bengal government will support all victims of political violence including the families of the victims of Sitalkuchi firing,"  the TMC Supremo said.
