Baghmundi, March 24: The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, urged the people to choose between development or corruption in Purulia, ‘schemes’ (Modi) or ‘scam’ (Mamata) in Bengal in the upcoming Bengal Assembly polls.
“You have a choice between scheme or scam. If you want schemes and
development then you have to choose the Modi government. Or else you can choose
Mamata Banerjee for a scam filled and corrupt governance,” Shah said in Baghmundi,
his first rally on Thursday. Shah addressed four public rallies on the last day
of the poll campaign for the first phase on March 27.
Shah slammed the Chief Minister for failing to generate jobs besides
driving out the automobile industry and asked the people to vote for the BJP if
they want pro-people schemes and for the "incompetent" TMC government
if they prefer scams
Reaching out to the Kurmi caste population of the Purulia district, Shah
promised jobs for every family and education in their language. He also
promised to build an AIIMS in the Jungle Mahal area. "Initially, it was
the Left which started the flight of capital from the state. Then Didi chased
away the automobile industry from Bengal (read Tatas). She has failed to
generate any kind of employment. "If you want schemes, you vote for Modiji
and if you prefer scams, then vote for the incompetent TMC. I leave it to you
to decide," he said while addressing a rally here.
"We will come up with a Rs 10,000 crore clean drinking water
project in Purulia. Didi has forced you to drink fluoride contaminated
water," he said. Stressing on the prevalence of dengue and malaria in the
area, the BJP leader said, "If you want to get rid of dengue and malaria,
you have to defeat Didi in the elections. "It appears that she has a special
affinity with dengue and malaria, and that is the reason why she has done
nothing to address the problem here,” he added.
