The auspicious beginning of the 88th year of Durga Puja celebrations of Tollygunge Shantipally Puja Samity was marked by the traditional Khuti Puja ceremony. The special event was held on Sunday, 23 August at the premises of Shantipally Puja Samity, in the presence of popular actress Idhika Paul, who attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour and participated in the Khuti Puja rituals.

Along with taking part in the traditional rituals, Idhika Paul presented a special moment of her talent to the audience. She personally sang the song “Kishori Kishori” and performed a dance exclusively to the same song, delighting the audience. Her spontaneous performance became one of the major highlights of the event.

Srikhol Debashish and Antara Naskar captivated the audience with their exceptional performance. Their vibrant Srikhol presentation and melodious musical rendition created an energetic and enchanting atmosphere throughout the venue.

Joyguru Putul Nach from Nadia presented a traditional puppet show, creating a beautiful ambience celebrating the rich folk culture of Bengal.

The theme of this year’s Durga Puja celebration by Tollygunge Shantipally Puja Samity is “Mukti” (Liberation). The pandal artist is Gobinda Giri, the idol artist is Parimal Pal, and the lighting arrangements are being handled by New S.B. Electric, Chandannagar. Continuing its 88-year-old legacy, the Puja Committee has once again placed special emphasis on culture, art and a meaningful social message.

The representatives of Tollygunge Shantipally Puja Samity stated that, while carrying forward their 88-year-old tradition, their primary objective is to make this year’s Durga Puja more beautiful, well-organised and culturally enriching.
