Director Vipul Vig who had written the stories of
Fukrey & Fukrey 3, repeats the cast of Fukrey of Varun Sharma &
Pulkit Samrat as Rahu Ketu which is so bad and so unfunny that even writing a
review is possibly a waste of time. If watching the movie was tedious, imagine
going ahead with writing the review and also reading it. Possibly on paper the
story of Rahu Ketu may have looked promising, but the execution was awful. The
film also touches upon the mythology of the two characters- Rahu & Ketu.
What could have been a chaos driven crazy ride of two bumbling misfits and
their misadventures turns out to be a headache for the handful of audience who
had turned up for the first day afternoon show.
Rahu & Ketu (Varun Sharma & Pulkit Samrat)
are inseparable best friends staying in the picturesque place of Kullu
(Himachal Pradesh) bringing bad luck wherever they go. But for them, it is
eradicating the evil people do. They are guided in their endeavour by an
invisible force (read Rahu & Ketu in red & blue mythological avatar).
When Foofaji (an Osho like Piyush Mishra) arrives at his nephew Churulal’s
(Manu Rishi Chadha) house and narrates the lore of Rahu Ketu, the latter writes
the destines of characters in his mythical and magical book Atarangi Kahaniyan
linking the stories to the two good-for-nothing guys Rahu & Ketu. Along the
way they come across various characters like a fiery and sexy Meenu (Shalini
Pandey) whom Rahu falls head over heels for, a timid policeman Bansi (Sumit
Gulati) who has a crush on Meenu, a corrupt police officer and senior of Bansi
(Amit Sial) and a drug lord Mordechai (Chunky Panday).
The film tries hard to give a social commentary on
the evils of society and corruption but sadly misfires.
The acting by the characters is seen to be
believed- terrible! What a waste of talents.
PS: Pls read the review at your own risk and if you
do so, then please avoid the film at any cost. Also the film bears no
resemblance to the 1978 B R Ishara’s film of the same title starring Premnath
& Pran in the title roles along with Shashi Kapoor & Rekha.
