In the ever-evolving landscape of Bollywood,
getting an early start can really shape a person's confidence for the long
haul. Bhagyashree Devraj Pillai has crafted her career around a more
introspective belief: that movement should be about self-discovery rather than
just putting on a show.
This philosophy became even clearer for her during
her time in Mrs India – The Goddess Season 3, which took place in Jaipur.
Instead of feeling like a departure, the pageant served as a moment of
reflection, resonating with the values she has embraced through her background
in musical theatre and training. For her, concepts like feminine strength,
restraint, and presence took center stage, emphasizing her path rather than
altering it.
Growing up in Jabalpur and later spending years in
Mumbai, Bhagyashree’s approach to dance is all about tuning into the body and
responding to the rhythm. In her classes, she intentionally removes any sense
of hierarchy. She sets aside names, backgrounds, and expectations to foster an
environment where engagement feels genuine and effortless.
Over time, this welcoming atmosphere has attracted
children from both the film industry and outside of it. Among her students are
Aaradhya Bachchan, the daughter of Sunny Leone, as well as the kids of Isha
Koppikar and Udita Goswami. By keeping the space neutral and anonymous, she
cultivates a level playing field where creativity can flourish without the
pressure of comparison.
Her experiences at platforms like the American
Dance Festival have only deepened her conviction in balancing curiosity with
discipline. Her performances at venues such as the National Centre for the
Performing Arts, the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, and the Nita Mukesh Ambani
Cultural Centre showcase this holistic approach, where movement, music, and
acting beautifully intertwine.
While accolades like Taj Miss Maharashtra 2023 and
her victory in Mrs India Season 3 add layers to her story, teaching remains at
the heart of what she does. After taking a short break, she returned with a
renewed sense of purpose, opting for selective creative projects while
remaining open to theatre and screen opportunities that resonate with her
artistic vision.
At the core of her work is timing. Giving children
confidence in their bodies before industry pressures begin to shape them. In a
space driven by visibility, Bhagyashree Devraj Pillai continues to place
freedom first.
