Rajan Shahi’s long-running television show Yeh
Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, under his banner Director’s Kut Productions, has
achieved a historic milestone by completing 5000 episodes. Among the many
people celebrating this accomplishment is veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who
once worked with Rajan during the making of his show Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, and
has witnessed his journey closely.
Calling the achievement extraordinary, Mahesh said,
“Rajan Shahi's 5000th episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is nothing short of
a miracle. It is a testament to endurance, goodness, and the stubborn fire of a
man who simply refuses to give up. In an age where films vanish over a weekend
and new shows die like stillborns, this man has kept a story alive—breathing,
growing, thriving—for fifteen unimaginable years.”
Recalling Rajan’s early days, he shared, “He stood
in the shadow of my gaze—young, hungry, alert, absorbing everything. And today,
he stands tall, not because of noise, but because of character. He doesn’t sing
his own praises. He doesn’t clutch at fame. He doesn’t strut. He works—quietly,
consistently, fiercely.”
Mahesh highlighted that Rajan’s success stems not
merely from skill but from values. “People talk about his craft—but his true
power does not come from technique. It comes from his conscience. Without moral
clarity, direction is just manipulation. Without integrity, longevity is
impossible.”
He went on to say that Rajan’s accomplishments are
not accidental. “This success is not luck—it is the natural flowering of a man
whose conscience leads his craft. People misunderstand direction. They reduce
it to lenses and shot divisions. But without inner truth, direction becomes
manipulation. Rajan knows this. He lives it.”
Expressing deep admiration, Mahesh added, “To me,
Rajan is not just a successful storyteller—he is a treasure. A reminder that
goodness, resilience, and stubborn devotion still matter. I am proud of him.
Proud that he once stood beside me learning. And proud that today he stands as
a benchmark for the industry I have spent my life in.”
For Mahesh, this milestone belongs not only to the
show but to everyone who believes in creating with conscience. “Rajan, you
honor the craft—and in doing so, you honor me. May you go further. May you go
deeper. May you continue proving that art guided by values becomes timeless.”
When asked what advice he would give Rajan at this
stage, he shared, “Help people discover their potential. Lift them. Guide them.
That is the only legacy worth leaving. And Rajan already does this
instinctively—he believes in people long before they believe in themselves.”
He concluded with deep sentiment, “That is why Yeh
Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has endured—not because of formulas, but because of the
moral force of the man steering it. At seventy-seven, when I see him today, I
feel simple, honest pride… the kind one feels watching someone you believed in
take flight.”
