The
Annual Short Film Festival of Jamshedpur, SHORTS, is back. This
being the 18th year, SHORTS
2025 will be held on November 29 and 30 at the Centre for Excellence
(CFE), Jamshedpur, from 5pm onwards both the days.
Since
its inception (SHORTS 2008 was the first ever Short Film Festival
in Jamshedpur), the festival has, in all its editions so far, screened short
films by professional, budding and student filmmakers. The films have been
creative in content and experimental in treatment which actually is the genre
of short films. Many of these films talked about socially relevant issues and
have been appreciated by the festival audience of the Steel City.
SHORTS has
always promoted budding filmmakers from Jharkhand and given them a platform to
showcase their talent. In the last 17 years, several budding filmmakers from
Jamshedpur and other parts of the state have screened their films in SHORTS
with quite a few now working as professional filmmakers all over the country.
Apart
from local filmmakers, a large number of filmmakers from other parts of the
country and abroad have participated in the film festival year after year. This
has made SHORTS a much awaited event and is the longest running Short Film
Festival in Jamshedpur.
Twenty-two
films will be screened over two days. The films are from Mumbai, Delhi,
Kolkata, Jamshedpur with an international participation from France. The films
which are in English, Hindi, Bengali as well as silent films range from 3
minutes to 29 minutes in duration, carrying much food for thought.
The
Society For Promotion Of Professional Excellence (Jamshedpur), TATA STEEL and
Take 5 Communications (Kolkata) who are behind this endeavour feel that the 18th Edition
would receive an overwhelming response from film buffs of Jamshedpur much like
the Festival’s earlier editions.
