After protecting herself as well as a few hundred patients from the 2008 terror
attack at Cama Hospital, a nurse breaks down in solitude. It is one of the most
touching scenes in recent times and perfectly sums up the crux of Kangana
Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata - a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes
(our health workers)- who rose to the toughest occasion just by their sheer
grit and resilience.
Kangana playing the nurse, is OUTSTANDING in the aforementioned scene. The lady
even perfects her character's Marathi accent. The supporting cast, mainly
Marathi actors comprising Girija Oak, Smita Tambe and Priya Berde, are also
super impressive. Our main lead Kangana gamely gives them equal scope to shine
and they do!!
Starting slow with the daily life of these nurses at Cama, the film picks up
fabulously once the 26/11 terror attack unfolds there. You get so involved in
the chaos and panic that it feels you are right there with them, braving the
sadistic terrorists on a killing spree.
The Attacks of 26/11 have already been explored before in Bollywood by Ram
Gopal Varma (2013) as well as Aditya Dhar in the recent Dhurandhar (2025). But
those were largely restricted to CSMT station, Taj Mahal Hotel and Leopold
Cafe, where there were maximum casualties. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata puts the
spotlight on a relatively underreported place and makes us witness the horror
on celluloid. And yup, it rightly celebrates the hospital staff who didn't let
the terrorists win. Recommended for theatrical watch!!
