New Delhi, October 19: On the birth anniversary of the late iconic actress Priya Tendulkar, her husband and noted filmmaker Karan Razdan made a heartwarming announcement that has stirred a wave of nostalgia among television audiences. The much-loved classic from the 1980s, “Rajani”, is set to make a grand comeback with its sequel — ‘Rajani 2.0’.

Karan Razdan officially revealed that ‘Rajani 2.0’ will premiere on Doordarshan from November 3, airing Monday to Friday from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

In the original series, Priya Tendulkar immortalized the role of Rajani — a fearless, socially conscious woman who fought against injustice and corruption. In this new chapter, her daughter Guddu will carry forward her mother’s ideals and spirit. Now grown up, Guddu embodies the same courage, honesty, and determination — earning her the affectionate title ‘Rajani 2.0’.

The role of Guddu will be portrayed by actress Aradhana Sharma.

Speaking about the revival, Karan Razdan said, “No one can truly play Rajani again, but her soul and her spirit live on through her daughter. ‘Rajani 2.0’ is dedicated to the memories of Basu Chatterjee and Priya Tendulkar. We are confident that viewers who loved Priya Ji’s Rajani will shower the same affection upon Rajani’s daughter.”

Adding to the excitement, ‘Rajani 2.0’ will also be available digitally on the Waves platform from November 10, enabling audiences across generations to experience the show in a new format.

The team shared, “The good old days are returning! Doordarshan and Waves are joining hands to bring back classic, meaningful entertainment. This Diwali, ‘Rajani 2.0’ will be a nostalgic yet refreshing gift for Indian audiences.”
