“Life is a Ballad” — the biopic on Bengal’s beloved
balladeer Ranjan Prasad — a cinematic endeavour documentary by Cinema for a
Cause, shot, narrated, and directed by Abhishek Ganguli, was screened to a
packed and discerning audience at Shivananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission
Institute of Culture, Golpark.
On behalf of Cinema for a Cause, our heartfelt
gratitude to Swami Suparnananda (Satya Maharaj) for initiating this memorable
screening under the efficient management of Sayok Chakraborty (RKM Golpark). We
were deeply honoured by the presence of Swami Sumanasananda (Subhash Maharaj)
and the many admirers, followers, and well-wishers of the living legend himself
— Ranjan Prasad.
The grand finale turned into a soulful celebration
of music, featuring impromptu performances by Ranjan Prasad and his disciples —
Antardip Biswas, Sayan Haldar, and Reeta Chakraborty — weaving together Lalon,
Baul, Folk and iconic Ranjan Prasad numbers into one magical evening.
The screening reaffirmed a timeless truth —
Music needs no passport. It crosses every barrier
and boundary, healing hearts and energising souls through the stories and songs
of people, cultures, nature, and life’s realisations.
