Actor Arjun Bijlani has shared his unhappiness on
the Supreme Court’s recent verdict regarding stray dogs in Delhi-NCR, which
calls for them to be moved to shelters. He says that he is not sure how well
they would be taken care of at shelters.
While expressing his concern as a dog lover, he
says, “It's very unfortunate that stray dogs are going to be put in shelters. I
don't know if there are so many shelters in the first place for many dogs to be
accommodated. I don't know what kind of treatment they will have in the
shelters, which is another big debate. Being a dog lover, my heart breaks just
to imagine what's going to happen.”
Wishing for better places to keep them, he adds, “I
wish we have the infrastructure for the same. If it's there, they have to be
inspected to see whether the dogs are taken care of.”
However, the Naagin actor clarified he is not
criticising the apex court’s ruling, saying, “I respect the Supreme Court. I
totally believe in the institution. I think they should make more laws like
this for people who create nuisance on roads… there are a lot of things that go
wrong in society that also need to be fixed.”
He adds, “There should be vaccination and
sterilisation. The dogs need to be neutered so that they don't keep increasing…
The solution is complicated. We need to think about the long-term solution and
animals.”
