Director: R S Prasanna

Director R S Prasanna (Shubha Mangal Saavdhan 2017) makes a lovely film. Sitaare Zameen Par is such a warm and light-hearted film that you will fall in love with it on the first go. The film is pure fun and Prasanna ensures that there is not a dull moment in the film. It is a serious eye-opener about neurodivergent people but told in a very simple and a fun loving manner. The director has two aces up his sleeves- Aamir Khan and the ten true 'stars'. Despite being credited as the official remake of the 2018 Spanish hit-'CAMPEONES', Prasanna ensures that the film is not a 'direct' lift- he adds a few more sequences. The elevator scene and the mouse scenes stand out. The climax is another highlight.

The Delhi Sports Association assistant basketball coach Gulshan Arora (Aamir Khan) gets into a fight with the head coach Paswan (Deepraj Rana) during Delhi vs Karnataka match at the National Basketball League where Delhi is defeated and Arora is suspended for the assault on Paswan but not before spending a night at the police lock up for drunk driving and banging a police car. The next day he is produced in the court where the judge Anupama Mandal (Tarana Raja) pronounces his sentence - a fine of Rs. 5000/- and a community service which requires him to coach a basketball team consisting of neurodivergent people who are affected with down syndrome and autism. Gulshan is unhappy to coach such 'mental' players and to top it all he has an estranged relationship with his beautiful wife Suneeta (Genelia Deshmukh). But all of it changes and how?

Aamir Khan gives a brilliant performance which reminds us of '3 IDIOTS' (2008). Genelia Deshmukh is superb, especially in the second half of the film. Gurpal Singh as Kartar Paaji is wonderful and has a substantial part to play. Dolly Ahluwalia Tewari (Gulshan's mother Preeto) and Brijendra Kala (Daulatji) are adorable. The shining stars-Ashish Pendse, Ayush Bhansali, Simran Manjrekar, Gopikrishnan K  Verma, Aaroush Datta, Rishabh Jain, Rishi Shahani, Vedant Sharma, Samvit Desai and Naman Misra are all outstanding. Deepraj Rana is fair and so is Tarana Raja.

Screenplay  and dialogues by Divy Nidhi Sharma are entertaining keeping in mind the human and emotional quotient.

The film leaves you with a smile and definitely wins your heart. Aamir is in his elements. So don't miss it.
