Once again, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has created history. After achieving national recognition, the college has now made its mark on the continental stage. Following its entry into the India Book of Records, the institution has now earned a prestigious place in the Asia Book of Records.
This remarkable recognition was formally conferred at a grand ceremony held recently at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College. Sanjay Bhola Dhir, the country's famous Mask artist and representative from the Asia Book of Records, presented the honour to the college authorities in the presence of the Hon'ble Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and local MLA Ramprasad Paul.
Also present at the event
were several distinguished guests, including former Director of Health Services
Dr. Satya Ranjan Debbarma, veteran journalist and editor of Sandhan Mr. Subal
Dey, editor Mr. Nabyendu Bhattacharya, administrative head of the medical
college Mr. Sougata Pit and many others.
This achievement is being
hailed as a major milestone for the college, its students, and the entire
health education sector of Tripura.
According to the Asia
Book of Records, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has set a new record by
enrolling the highest number of students from across the country in its
inaugural academic session. Representative Sanjay Bhola Dhir stated that such
an occurrence is unprecedented among 48 Asian countries. For the 2024–25
academic session, the college admitted students from 21 different Indian
states—a feat unmatched by any other newly established medical college in Asia.
The college, which began
its first academic session in 2024, was founded with the goal of providing
world-class medical education to students in the state. In its very first year,
it attracted an impressive number of students from across India, something
rarely seen in other newly established institutions.
A closer look at the
student list reveals representation from nearly every corner of India. While
Tripura contributed the highest number of students (47), the college also
admitted students from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh,
Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu,
Telangana and Uttarakhand.
This incredible start has
shown that Tripura Santiniketan Medical College is well on its way to becoming
one of the country’s top health education centers. From the beginning, the
college has succeeded in attracting meritorious students and gaining the trust
of parents from across the country.
During the event, Sanjay Bhola Dhir presented the certificate, medal and official recognition
from the Asia Book of Records to the Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul and
the college’s Principal, Professor Dr. Sanjoy Nath.
In his address, the Deputy
Speaker said, “Students have come here from 21 Indian states.
This college has become a ‘Mini India’. It’s a matter of pride—not only for the
college but for the entire region. The local people are fortunate. Today, Tripura
Santiniketan Medical College stands as a symbol of pride for our state.”
He further added,
“Starting a fully functional medical college within just two years under the
leadership of President Malay Pit is truly extraordinary. International
recognition in such a short time is nothing short of remarkable.”
He candidly acknowledged
the initial challenges, saying, “Two years ago, this area was a forest. Today,
it's a center of development. I apologize for any resistance faced during the
initial phases. True development comes through action, not noise. Those willing
to work must be allowed to work.”
College President Dr.
Malay Pit expressed his heartfelt joy, stating, “Today is a moment of great
pride. Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has earned a place of distinction
among 48 countries in Asia. This recognition by the Asia Book of Records is not
just for the college or for our Swadhin Trust, but for all the people of
Tripura and the nation. We are proud, honoured, and inspired to move forward.”
He added, “This
recognition marks a new milestone in the history of medical education in Asia.
Following the India Book of Records, this Asia Book of Records honour proves
the institution’s commitment to excellence in education and training.”
The students of the
college were equally jubilant, showcasing their cultural talents in
performances that highlighted the diverse traditions of all 21 represented
states.
Experts believe that this
achievement by Tripura Santiniketan Medical College will significantly enrich
the healthcare education sector in the state and attract even more students in
the coming years.
