Rating: 2.5/5

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a fun film which one can enjoy from start to finish. Not funny but certainly not boring.

Marcus and Mike are forced to confront new threats, career changes, and midlife crises as they join the newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department to take down the ruthless Armando Armas, the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel.

Where the performances are concerned, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a bad film. It doesn’t feel like anyone is putting in the effort to act. Vanessa Hudgens has barely any screen time. Martin Lawrence’s one-liners are amusing but never laugh-out-loud funny. Will Smith doesn’t even try. Eric Dane isn’t bad, but his performance is nowhere as good as his performance in Sam Levinson’s TV drama Euphoria. Ioan Gruffudd doesn’t try as well. Jacob Scipio has a single facial expression throughout the film; he fails to emote.

The direction is not spectacular, but the camera work surely is. The camera work is so over the top and so well done that it’s unbelievable. The screenplay has some of the worst innuendos and sexual jokes ever heard in an action film before.

The plot is gripping nonetheless. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a fun film, that’s never, even for a second, boring. You’ll be hooked from the beginning. But as soon as you walk out of the theatre, you’ll forget half the things that happened in the film.
