If Kaushik Ganguly teams up with Prosenjit-Rituparna you can be assured of an unconventional drama. Remember Drishtikone! And Ajogyo is no different. The hit pair’s 50th film together, a milestone in Tollywood, Prosenjit and Rituparna have complemented each other in romantic roles over the years. In Ganguly's latest tightly written and deftly directed oeuvre Ajogyo they play star-crossed lovers.

Rituparna (Parna) and Shilajit (Raktim) are a middle-class couple with a polio-afflicted child, Chiki going through a mental and financial crisis. Raktim is a jobless husband which forces Parna to take up a job to make ends meet.

Raktim’s chance meeting with Prosen Mitra (Prosenjit) in a bar ends with the two striking up a quick friendship and soon Prosen becomes Raktim’s close confidante. When Prosen turns up unexpectedly one night with a whiskey bottle at Raktim’s place Parna is in for a major shock. Prosen is her childhood friend whom she had lost touch with years ago. But there is more to their relationship than meets the eye and as the events unfold Prosen turns out to be a man with an agenda and all that is happening in the couple’s life is not mere coincidence.

Prosenjit is excellent in the titular role with shades of grey, He looks and dresses the part as the cool and calculating Prosen making inroads back into Parna’s life. However, Rituparna is not up to the mark as she appears out of focus in some scenes. They still look good together and seal it with a smooch! Shilajit is effective as the stay-at-home frustrated husband Raktim and you genuinely feel for his character. Sudip as Rituparna’s caring boss and Lily as Prosen's mother leave a mark. Anupam Roy’s hummable songs are skillfully woven into the narrative propelling the thriller to its unexpected climax.
