Shibaji Dutta's Bengali film "Khelaghar Bandhte Legechhi" saw a glittering premiere at South City on Friday in the presence of the cast and crew. Lead actress Basabdatta Chatterjee breezed in before the show to meet her fans and the press. Calling the film a family film, she says she had a great time working with the young team.
Director Shibaji Dutta revealed that the film was inspired by his own
childhood where he saw his happy joint family breaking up before his own eyes
leaving him heartbroken. The film is very close to my heart as it
revolves around the importance of family and having elders in the family to
shower love on you and guide you in the right direction. It talks about how
important it is for parents to give time to their children no matter how busy
they are in their respective careers. Lastly, there is a strong social message
that mobiles and apps can't really take the place of real relationships.
Unfortunately, children turn to the virtual world when they are neglected by
their loved ones in the real world.
One of veteran
actor Parthasararthi Deb's last screen appearances before his untimely death in March this year, Deb plays the grandfather of the two neglected kids. By
relating stories about his childhood in the village he tries to keep them away
from mobile gadgets. Basabdatta and Joy Sengupta play the parents indifferent
to their children's desire to spend time with them.
