The Marvels is torture for the eyes and the mind. It is not even vaguely a good superhero film. Tonally inconsistent - there are jokes here and there that sound like they were written by a five-year-old - and the stakes - which should be the priority in any superhero film- are never high. The whole plot of this film is the go-to plot for any MCU film, which makes it even blander and annoying to watch. The bad CGI is another sore point. MCU’s CGI has been going down the drain post Avengers: Endgame anyway!

Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.

Nia DaCosta's direction is pretty average. The film is full of exposition - like every MCU film is - but even more childish than before. The music is nothing that great nor is the cinematography. The three leads do share a palpable chemistry but there is no character development as such. The bland dialogues ruin the performances as well.
