Oindrila Chakraborty is a girl of many talents. The 11-year-old Grade 7, Year 8 student of a British school in the UAE is known for her documentaries on YouTube and book reviews apart from her short stories and has bagged the third prize at the Young Indian Writer’s Award organised by Norton Press. She also is the host of Kingston’s Children’s Club organised virtually every week by Kingston Model School.
July 19 saw her first fiction novel “The Adventures
of the Legendary Queen” being released by a galaxy of celebrities at the Press
Club Kolkata. They included Leena Gangopadhayay, Mriganka Banerjee, actor Bhaswar
Chatterjee, author Chitra Lahiri among others. Her father Dr Manishankar
Chakraborty, the academic advisor for Kingston Model School, and mother Dr Asawari Chakraborty said all parents need to help unearth their children's talent instead of imposing their whims on them.
The young author loves doing book reviews, drawing, reading, and travelling; her favourite subjects include English, drawing, and
music.
She credited her parents for supporting her writing
talent and mentoring her. “My vivid imagination and love for nature and animals
inspired me to write this novel. I love doing book reviews, which helps me learn new words to enhance my vocabulary.”
Orindrila who wants to become a pediatrician is
already working on her next novel, a murder mystery where she has completed writing 5000 words.
“The Adventures of the Legendary Queen” is an adventure
