An Ajay Devgn actioner from the word go
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Vineet Kumar,
Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra & Abhishek Bachchan, Amala Paul (Special
Appearance)
Rating: 3.5*
Ajay Devgn leaves no stone unturned in retelling Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Kaithi’. His use of VFX in the action sequences is high-octane, and Ajay goes back to what he does best - action. Our hero with a Trishul reminds you of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 (which is still running). Ajay has stayed true to Kaithi, making the film worth a dekko.
When IPS Diana Joseph (a brilliant &
no-nonsense Tabu) manages to get hold of Sikka Gang’s headed by Nithari (a
superb Vineet Kumar) cocaine worth thousands of crores (after an edge-of-the-seat
chase), Nithari’s younger brother Ashwathama (a crazy and super quirky Deepak
Dobriyal) goes berserk as not only the cocaine but even Nithari has been caught
by the police. At a higher official’s party when all her police colleagues are
drugged, Diana escapes the trap laid by Ashwathama. She takes upon herself the
task of transporting all the drugged officers to a three-hour far hospital
along with the help of Bholaa (a typical silent hero Ajay Devgn) who is the
only person who can drive the truck. Who is this Bholaa? The film takes off
with Mad Max kind of goons and solid action from hereon.
Yes, there is a father-daughter emotional
thread running in the film too. Plus, do not miss the surprise in the end
credits. There is a seeti-maar shocking appearance. Looking forward to the continuation
in the next part. Gajraj Rao is non-recognizable with his get-up, Sanjay Mishra
deserved better but Kiran Kumar is wasted. Amala Paul has nothing to do in a
special appearance as Bholaa’s wife.
Ajay Devgn tries his best to make a grand action-packed
film which he manages to hold somehow but something feels amiss in the end.
