February 15 saw the trailer and music launch of “Shoishob” at a city lounge. The second presentation of Nitu Films, the film which is directed by Shibu and D Mukherjee, attempts to convey a realistic social statement about shoishob or childhood through twin stories, one in an urban setting and one in a rural area.
The film’s cast and crew included producers Nabanita
and Shibprasad, the directors and singers Rupankar Bagchi and Tirtha. Special
guests renowned filmmaker Milon Bhowmick and veteran film producer Krishna Dag
lauded the effort to make a film on children.
The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to True
Light Welfare Foundation, an NGO working in the villages in the field of
education.
The trailer launch was followed by the music launch of
the two numbers sung by Rupankar and Tirtha. While Rupankar has sung the peppy 'Twinkle Twinkle' for the story set in the city and even features in the film,
folk singer Tirtha has given a special twist to 'Kaajal Latar Kali' in the story
set in the village.
The film stars seasoned and new artists like Gora
Dhar, Piya Choudhury, Tarak Chowdhury, Debabrata Biswas, Manik Dey, and Manik
Dey including child artistes Sayantika, Shirsho and Satarupa Naskar.
Nitu Films’ debut venture was the Soumitra Chatterjee
starrer “Prayaas” in 2018.
“Shoishob” is slated for an April 14 release.
