The Department of Renewable Energy Engineering of MAKAUT, W.B inaugurated SESI (Solar Energy Society of India) Student Chapter on February 20, at the University Guest House, Haringhata Campus, MAKAUT. The inauguration was done by the Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra. The Registrar of MAKAUT Dr. Partha Pratim Lahiri, Praful Pathak, President, SESI, New Delhi, Prof. S.M. Ali, Director General of SESI, New Delhi, Sushanta Biswas, Asst. Director, West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) and many other eminent personalities were present on the occasion. A one-day seminar was also organised at the same venue.
The Solar Energy of India (SESI), established in 1978, has its
Secretariat in New Delhi, and is the Indian Section of the International Solar
Energy Society (ISES). Its interests cover all aspects of renewable energy,
including characteristics, effects and methods of use. It provides a common
ground to all those concerned with the nature and utilization of this
renewable, non-polluting resource.
