Another bland MCU offering

Cast: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Kathryn Newton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Bill Murray

Rating: 2.5/5

The good thing about this film is that it never starts off promising, so you don’t feel cheated when it falls flat on its face halfway through the runtime. Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Jonathan Majors are the only good thing about the film along with the sequence at the beginning when they go into the Quantum Realm.

People criticized Martin Scorsese back in 2019 for comparing MCU films with theme park rides – he isn’t wrong. Theme-park rides are fun once or twice, but end up getting boring after you ride the same ride over a million times.

Superhero duo Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, together with Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Paul Rudd delivers a rather weak performance but is still charming enough to keep you invested in the proceedings like Michael Douglas. Jonathan Majors delivers one of the strongest performances in the MCU in recent memory. He’s menacing as Kang. However, the jokes are often lame and the action bland, and boring. Kevin Feige needs to realize that after some time audiences won’t accept the generic stuff the MCU keeps on churning out every 2-3 months.

Peyton Reed’s direction is bad, all MCU films are now identical, bringing nothing new to the table. The visual effects may be good but get boring after a while.

Don ‘t forget to stay back for the surprise after the end credits roll.
